Favorite SAI Moment: The day we found out we were gonna charter as a SAI chapter… all the hard work finally paid off and I can’t express the joy and excitement I felt at that moment.
Why did you join SAI?: I joined the EC Sisterhood of Musicians and met some amazing people there who turned out to be some of my best friends.  After a year of debating we finally pulled together and petitioned to be SAI. I became an SAI because I wanted to belong to something greater than myself with the people I cared about that supported the music that I loved so much.

I graduate February 5, 2006. I taught in the public schools for 4 years and am currently teaching private voice and piano lessons at Beyond Center Stage, a fitness and performing arts studio, located on the north side of Elmhurst. I feel blessed to remain connected with the Elmhurst community where I currently live with my husband Rob (class of 2004) and my two children, Lily (b. 2006) and Will (b. 2010).

What are you currently doing?: Brett and I are knee-deep in wedding plans!  In March he will be relocating to Carlinville, IL to look for work and to get a jump start on our lives together.  We’ll be coming back up to my hometown for our wedding in June, followed by a honeymoon to New Orleans.  I just recently started my second semester of teaching, and I LOVE my job! (Just call me by my nickname, “K-12”)  It’s very challenging but even more rewarding! I know it’s a hike, but if anyone wants to come down to observe and/or visit, the Amtrak to Carlinville isn’t too expensive 🙂

Favorite SAI Moment: As a founding sister, I found our installment ceremony to be an incredible experience.  When I was first creating our original chapter webpage, I explored the national website and other chapter websites, and I learned about my sisters from all over the country.
Why did you join SAI?: I was excited to join a group with my friends from the music department, the EC Sisterhood of Musicians.  I had no idea that we would become SAI, and SAI would mean so much to me.
Additional Information: I have multiple medical conditions, for which I’m still having surgeries on my brain and spinal cord.  I’m hoping the surgery this winter will be the last one.  I still use a wheelchair sometimes, but trade off with my walker and cane.
Life since graduation: Teaching piano lessons to my studio of 18 students.  Working on getting healthier.  Parents got divorced.  Mom will soon be re-married!  Looking forward to a possible engagement in the near future for Gustavo and me!

I also keep up my music performance in a position as church organist and choir director and am currently attending graduate school to get my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
